Oslo-based newcomer Ira Nor has released her debut EP, Swim Ira. One of the standout tracks on the album is the second: ‘dance in pain’. After the hectic hyperpop of the opening track, we’re taken in a slower, more reflective direction. The distortion on her voice adds to the very on-the-nose meaning behind the track of dancing through the pain in a nightclub. On songwriting, she explains that “I often feel like my head is bursting with melodies but I suppress them until I feel like I have so many ideas I need to get them out, and then I let them burst through.” A lot of impressive ideas have burst through on this EP, so make sure to check it out. -Dan Peeke.
